This presentation summarises my PhD research "Into the Heart of Systems Change".
"The Love Letters from Mother Earth" series is written by Anneloes Smitsman to guide us into the heart of our humanity to discover the essence of who we are from a planetary perspective. Within 12 hours of its launch “The Promise of a New Beginning” made it to the top 10 of Amazon International Bestsellers in two categories, and has been endorsed by Dr Jean Houston, Dr Lawrence Bloom, Chief Phil Lane, and Dr Jude Currivan as a book that will change your life and guide you Home. Through these Letters, we receive the wisdom and support that our planet, as a caring and conscious Mother, shares for this challenging time.
My life has been full with incredible encounters and many unusual events that have been preparing me for the Call I have now answered. The events that I am sharing here highlight my own preparation and the deeper pattern of my life. My deepest commitment is the full blossoming of our Human Family from within our membership with Life, with loving care for our Mother Earth and the countless other beings who are our family too. To give birth to a new time and a world born from our unity by the power of our Love.
I was born and raised in the Netherlands in a family who deeply loves and supports me. I have always felt closely attuned to the deeper spiritual dimensions of Life through my time in Nature and with the animals that were close to my house. My intuitive abilities were my compass in life since an early age. What is unfolding now as our planetary crisis, came to me in the form of visions and dreams more than 30 years ago. I saw then the mass migrations, the rising water, the increasing heat, the collapse of our planetary ecosystems, the shifting of the poles, and the increasing tensions between people. I felt a deep identity crisis within my own humanity around the age of 14, as I noticed those same destructive tendencies and mechanisms to close our heart and turn away from each other, were also present in me. At one stage it became so dark that I even wondered whether death would not be a better option. I remembered then my deep sense of unity and connection with Mother Earth, and regained my strength to continue.
At the age of 10, I started to study piano and noticed that music would give me a doorway through time, to gain a deeper understanding of our collective consciousness at important intervals of our human story. I was fascinated what happened as I opened to the inspiration coming through the music. This also opened in me a doorway to the darkness of our human suffering and at that age I did not know how to work with those feelings and experiences. Something inside me started to awaken, the desire to make a difference.
I was introduced to leadership at an early age. When I was 16 years old, after regional and national selections, I was elected together with 12 other youth leaders to represent the Netherlands in the European Youth Parliament, where we provided input directly to the European Parliament. For the two years that followed, we travelled around Europe, and met with many various Ministers, Ambassadors and Heads of State. I was also selected during that period as Provincial President for the Province of Gelderland in the Netherlands, to prepare new youth leaders.
When the international organizers noticed my ability to inspire and bring people together in a shared Vision that activates our deeper calling they asked me to start organizing European Concerts for the European Youth Parliament Sessions, to bring us together through the shared language of music and arts. This was an incredible experience. Since we often could not understand each other's mother language, we would experience our Togetherness through the music and our hearts and minds opened and connected in ways that showed us our collective strength and leadership possibility for a Future where all of us can live as One Human Family, inclusive of our differences (variety).
After one of our concerts in Hungary, the organizer of the Edinburgh Art Festival invited me to come as his special guest and have a direct experience behind the scenes and meet with all the celebrities invited there to explore more fully the deeper purpose of my own life. I was 19 years old and had just finished secondary school. During the memorable 3 weeks that followed, I personally met with actress Emma Thompson, the former Director of Trinity College of Music and former pianist John Bingham (who offered me a placement at Trinity College of Music as his student), and the not so well known leader of the Romanian Revolution who was the Director of the Shakespeare company in Romania during the regime of Ceaușescu.
All these people made a deep impression on me and during a magical full moon at the Scottish Highlands, this revolution leader from Romania told me his story. He shared how he could lead the revolution because the people used to come to his theatre every Sunday as a place to dream of a better world and Future, and through this process, he had earned their trust. They felt they could trust in him with their hearts. The army knew this and when the time came to topple the regime of Ceaușescu, the army asked him to lead the revolution and followed behind him with the people to the Capital City where they took control. He agreed to serve in this role on the condition that he would not be made into a politician, and true to his word he left after new leaders were elected.
I eventually decided not to become a pianist and enrolled in Law school in a small program, which was at Leiden University for those who wanted to become diplomats. During my last year of my Masters in Law, I went to South Africa. Apartheid had just finished and the Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) process had just started. This was 1996. I got closely involved in this process when one of the most promising African male students got murdered during a party where I attended a few hours before. I felt intuitively something bad was going to happen and went home early. The next morning, I was informed of what took place. During the funeral that followed where thousands of people attended in a very emotional ceremony, I stood at the back of the line, feeling shy as a foreigner to be there, but was told I must come in support. Suddenly a lady took me by the arm and said, "You, come with us". I replied, "Me? ..., but I don't even know the young man, I only met him for a few hours during the party before he was murdered". She insisted and seemed not to hear what I said. She took me by the arm and brought me into the church, just behind the close family of this young man. She said, "you sit here, this is your place". I was puzzled, why was I there?
What followed, I cannot describe in words but my intuitive powers opened even further and somehow I received the information with very clear instructions for how to resolve the murder case and keep the evidence safe, which I shared with the family of the man who was murdered. As I knew too much for my own safety, I later had to flee the country to save my life. Shaken deeply about the many events in my young life, I went onto my own Quest to better understand my intuitive abilities and explore the worlds of consciousness. I moved to Australia and remained there for 8 years. This began my long process of learning from Indigenous Wisdom Traditions, and in particular the Australian Aborigines. I met many wonderful people and received training in the Buddhist & Dzogchen teachings, Kriya Yoga, the Usui & Karuna Reiki Master Teacher Training, homeopathy, herbalism, vibrational medicines, shamanic visioning and healing, and received Australian Aboriginal womanhood initiations.
Many years later my path brought me to Mauritius for personal reasons, and I was brought in contact again with information that had serious implications for the lives of many people. I was introduced to the descendants of the Maroons and slaves in Mauritius to support them in explaining an important draft policy document and the implications of this for their cultural and ancestral heritage. They shared with me how their true legacy and oral history had not been honoured and told me confidentially the true events of what had happened on a sacred Mountain, called Le Morne Mountain, and how this became a beacon of hope and courage for the fight against slavery and oppression around the world. This Mountain and their Heritage was at risk of being sold off to property developers with a lot of financial interests.
The true story of what really happened on and around this Sacred Mountain in the early 1800s was never told publicly and officially. Together with one of the local Custodians of this heritage, I started to work probono from behind the scenes and wrote all the official reports for the descendants, and submitted those in their names to honour their rightful role. This gave them the visibility they needed to stand protected as the local Custodians of their Cultural and Ancestral Heritage. Their heritage got acknowledged by UNESCO, and one year later, Le Morne Mountain became enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Place, a few weeks after the birth of my first son. You can read more about this HERE.
A few years later, my path brought me once more to a place of responsibility in catalyzing our collective Journey. This time the Call came through a request for uniting people through an envisioning process for "the Future We Want". I was asked to lead a collective dialogue process for official input in the 2012 RIO+20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development (SD), and the 2014 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) UN Conference on SD. I had developed a Dialogue Process based on the Indigenous Medicine Wheel Teachings of the 7 Directions, through 5 Steps - Connect, Envision, Engage, Reflect, and Share. I decided to dedicate that process to this cause, and formed a local team in Mauritius for bringing us Together from All Walks of Life in this shared envisioning process. Together we hosted 20 dialogues in 2012 and 2013, with thousands of people. This process guided people into a Journey to experience our Possible Future. The experience for many people was life-changing as they started to see and experience possibilities from Our Future for Our World that many of them never considered. This also supported a deeper collective healing and reunification process. Based on the success in Mauritius, 8 other countries asked me to train them in this dialogue methodology, and eventually in 2013, UNESCO asked me to train their youth leaders for the official Youth input process via UNESCO for the three SIDS regions in our world.
In 2017, I received the Call to share my knowledge, wisdom, and experience about evolutionary and globally leadership in service for the development of our Future Creative Leadership globally, and especially for our Youth. This is what led to the development of our yearly global online Transformation Journeys, and in particular the Leadership Quest, which I facilitate each year now with our Team from EARTHwise Centre. Through this Quest, we also provide full scholarships to our youth future leaders, and indigenous youth and Elders. By sharing and answering the Call, we are growing into a global community of evolutionary leaders dedicated to the co-creation of a Thrivability Civilization. Our Quests also bring together our Global Leader Elders through their contributions and live participation, including Dr Jean Houston, Dr Ervin Laszlo, Chief Phil Lane, Diane Longboat, Dr Jude Currivan, and many others.
In 2019, it became clear that my PhD research was to serve the development of a transition plan for a Thrivability Civilization. This led to the development of the Tipping Point System, together with amazing colleagues and friends who share this deep commitment for the full flourishing of our humanity and the healing of our worlds.
In 2014, I received a strong call from my European ancestors to explore my spiritual lineage. I had never explored my Indigenous European heritage in great depth, and had been living away from Europe for a long time. It was time to return home and listen to the voice of my ancestors. From 2015-2018 I embarked on a journey into the heart of my European heritage of the European Mystical and Gnostic Knight traditions. This resulted in several initiations through the feminine Archetypes and the inner worlds of the Tree of Life, which brought deeper insight how to bring forth the feminine evolutionary qualities for this specific transition time. Following a deep birthing process of inner communion with the Tree of Life in 2016, I was given the 13 Love Letters from Mother Earth with three keys for actualising our Unity and the Wholeness Code.
